Gedeon
Richter signs price pact with govt; Hungarian National Health Insurance Fund;
Brief Article |
Hungarian drugmaker Richter
Gedeon has entered into an agreement with the government regarding the prices
of its drugs, creating a more transparent environment in the country's
pharmaceutical industry as well as reducing the amount of any co-payments required
of patients. |
|
The firm estimates that the
deal would shave around 1 billion forint ($ 4.8 million) off the
originally-predicted 2.5 billion-forint negative impact to its income for 2004
from the reform of the Hungarian health care system. The effect from lower
sales during the April-June period hit 1.5 billion forint, the company noted. |
Under the new agreement,
Richter will pay the Hungarian National Health Insurance Fund around 650
million forint of the 9 million forint due from pharmaceutical manufacturers to
help keep costs to consumers down, for which the government has agreed to cover
a further 12 million forint.
