Lewin
heads up Ace unit |
ACE Tempest Re, the Bermudian
reinsurance arm of the global giant, has named Andreas Lewin as its new head
following the departure of previous incumbent Christopher McKeown. |
|
Mr Lewin has stepped into the
president position and will report to David Furby, president and chief
executive of Ace Global Re, the umbrella for Ace's reinsurance operations. And
although Mr Lewin is expected to have day-to-day responsibility for running the
Bermudian reinsurance company, Mr Furby himself is due to take on the title of
Ace Tempest Re chief executive subject to approval from the Bermudian
authorities. |
|
Mr McKeown, who served as Ace
Tempest Re's president and chief executive since July 2002, has left the
company to pursue other opportunities, Ace said. |
|
Bermudian Mr Lewin, who joined
the company in April 1998 following Ace's acquisition of "Class of
'93" catastrophe reinsurer CAT Ltd, was previously chief underwriting
officer for US
property at Ace Tempest Re. |
Mr Furby welcomed Mr Lewin's
promotion, saying: "Andreas has proved his calibre as an underwriter in
our organisation and demonstrated both the talent and ability needed to lead
Ace Tempest Re Bermuda to continued success."
